Hand-lettering/calligraphy has become an incredibly valuable and practical skill to learn! Here are some creative and practical ways to use your calligraphy skills (or the free printable at the bottom of the post) for your Thanksgiving table.
Make each individual at your Thanksgiving table feel extra special by writing their names on place cards; they can be especially helpful if you have invited a large group for the meal, not all of whom will know each other. These could be simple flat cards tucked under the silverware or poking out from underneath the napkin, or folded in half to stand up near the top of each plate. You could also calligraph with permanent marker on mini pumpkins near each plate!
Alternatively, if seating arrangements aren’t your style, you could write a more generic phrase (like “thankful”), or items to be thankful for, or Bible verses about thankfulness.
You may not normally think to put artwork in your centerpiece, but it can be a meaningful addition! You can add framed art or just loose leaf paper—alone or perhaps with torn edges. The rightmost example is from Kylie Martin Photography; she chose a chunky frame that can stand on its own and placed it on a tray next to a vase. You can also clothespin little cards to certain pieces of your centerpiece. Stick it in the middle of your cornucopia, or lean the art up against a vase.
"Thankful" 5 Ways
The free download below includes the word "thankful," hand-calligraphed five different ways—pick the one that best matches your home, project, or tablescape! Print them and frame them for a centerpiece, print them and cut them into place cards, or use transfer paper to make a wood sign—the possibilities are endless! These come in vector format, as well, so can be scaled up and down as you choose.
