LEARN HOW TO HAND-LETTER,
THE EASY WAY
From DIY wall-art to making your own greeting cards, hand-lettering is a really handy (and, dare I say, trendy) skill to have up your sleeve. Don't start from scratch, or spend hours trying to figure out where to start. More importantly, don't ever leave your couch + Netflix!
50+ pages of step-by-step instruction and workbook pages
This is not your average "opt-in freebie"! Simple Script is a robust, complete eBook—not a short checklist, get-started guide, or glorified blog post. This printable eBook is just barely thin enough to be printed + stapled at home, and just long enough to take you by the hand, and guide you step-by-step through the process of learning to letter. You'll be busting out awesome chalkboard lettering along with the best of them in no time!
A completely new, innovative, yet simple way to learN
Simple Script started as a solution to one major problem I have wanted to solve as an in-person workshop instructor: Most of my attendees either A) have never learned cursive, or B) struggle to make their existing cursive consistent enough for hand lettering. Simple Script is the only method currently that doesn't require you to know or master cursive. It is a completely new method that borrows principles from line drawing and brush pen lettering to teach you calligraphy faster and easier than before.
Why learn 26 things, when 7 is sufficient?
Because, who has time for that? Rather than teach you how to form 26 separate letters, Simple Script will teach you the 7 basic shapes out of which the entire alphabet can be formed. By mastering 7 shapes, you master an entire alphabet and lettering style. Because the less time between you at those DIY thank you cards, the better!
a buildable system
Simple Script sets you up for a seamless transition into brush pen lettering. And once you've learned the system, you can start to recognize other calligraphy styles for their basic shapes so you can mimic them. If you stay in touch, I also intend to release more workbooks that will help you become a versatile letterer, mastering different styles for different occasions! Like that rustic wood farmhouse sign you've been dreaming of hanging...

The price: $0 (+ one photo)
I want to make Simple Script completely free because I'm excited about this brand-new method, and I want as many people as possible to learn calligraphy faster and easier. So, to help spread the word, I made the "price" of Simple Script a picture on social media. At some point after downloading, just take a picture of your work, whether that's a picture one of the workbook pages you've completed, or your name lettered "Simple Script style," or something you've used your skills to create! Don't forget to use the hashtag #simplescriptcreate!

These supplies are not necessary, but since I'm frequently asked, I thought I'd list some of my favorites!
I recommend either Microns or Gelly Rolls for any kind of hand lettering. They are archival and waterproof. I have a slight preference for the Micron set, since Amazon doesn't carry plain black multi-size sets of Gelly Rolls.
For printing the eBook, any old printer paper should do the trick. However, for a smooth glide for your pen and minimal bleed-through, I recommend the slightly thicker printer paper below. And for practicing once you're finished with the eBook, I couldn't recommend Rhodia dot pads more! The dots provide just enough structure without getting in the way, and the paper feels like a dream. If you're more of a journal person, Leuchtturm dot grid journals are even better than Rhodia pads, in my opinion. You can see a fuller review here.
